The new album Triade brings together the Trio Hochelaga to perform two works separated by time yet united by a shared creative impulse — one driven by the vitality of youth. Claude Debussy’s Trio in G Major, imbued with freshness and light, sits alongside *Triade*, a spirited composition full of contrasts penned by the ensemble’s own cellist, Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy. This dialogue highlights the Trio Hochelaga’s artistic identity and its commitment to a repertoire that is both new and lesser-known, conveyed through a decidedly contemporary voice.

Triade, a three-movement work (Sensations, Emotions, Surprises) composed by Dominique Beauséjour-Ostiguy, unfolds an intense and deeply emotional musical universe, drawing upon significant influences from the turn of the 20th century. Each movement blends a distinctive personal voice with a specific aesthetic style, ranging from Impressionism to Post-Romanticism and, finally, Modernism. This expressive trajectory charts a journey of contrasts in which tonal colors, dramatic tension, and rhythmic surprises engage in a dialogue marked by a fresh sensibility.
Composed when he was just eighteen, Debussy’s Trio in G major — long overlooked — already reveals the elegance and freedom of his musical language. Balancing luminous lyricism with refined textures, it offers a glimpse of the sensibility that would leave a profound mark on French music. It is a fresh, expressive work in which the dialogue between the instruments unfolds with natural grace and poetry.
