The Hochelaga Trio distinguishes itself on the international stage for the intensity of its performances, its artistic integrity, and the precision of its playing. Faithful to the great traditions of chamber music, it stands out particularly as an interpreter of a vast and varied repertoire, from the Classical era to contemporary music, paying special attention to the most beautiful works of Romanticism and its lesser-known treasures. Founded in 2000 by violinist Anne Robert, the Hochelaga Trio has maintained for over a quarter of a century the artistic integrity that constitutes its strength and its unique character. Each of the Hochelaga Trio's musical encounters is an opportunity to share music in all its fervor, the poetry of its sonic textures, and the diversity of its musical language. The Hochelaga Trio has undertaken numerous tours in Canada, Great Britain, the United States, Europe, Bermuda, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Among its many concerts, notable performances include its rendition of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Tokyo New City Orchestra at Tokyo's Sumida Triphony Hall, its appearance at London's prestigious Wigmore Hall, and its debut in Venice at the Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de musique romantique française. Its extensive discography has garnered critical acclaim. Recordings by the ensemble include the complete chamber music with piano by Théodore Dubois, the Trio and Quartet of Guillaume Lekeu, trio transcriptions of French operas by Ernest Alder, and the recording of trios by Gabriel Pierné and Gabriel Fauré, which earned it a "Choc" award, the highest accolade from the French magazine Le Monde de la Musique. The Hochelaga Trio was the dedicatee of the Triple Concerto by Canadian composer Jacques Hétu, premiered in 2003 with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Ensemble in residence at the Montreal Conservatory of Music, the Hochelaga Trio has been producing a series of concerts there for over 20 years.
