Quartet for the End of Time

The Hochelaga Trio and the exceptional clarinetist James Campbell offer a powerfully intense interpretation of Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time , which unites musicians and listeners in a sincere and profoundly human communion.

The concert includes a substantial introduction by the musicians, with some musical excerpts, which prepares the listener for a total immersion in this deeply moving work.

A striking masterpiece of chamber music

Olivier Messiaen composed the Quartet for the End of Time in 1940, while imprisoned at Stalag VIII-A in Görlitz. The work is inspired by the Angel of the Apocalypse's announcement, "There will be no more time," and was written for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, reflecting faith, hope, and the strength of the human spirit in extreme conditions.

On stage, the Hochelaga Trio and James Campbell breathe new life into this already moving piece , offering the audience a memorable experience of this masterpiece of the chamber music repertoire.
