Three musicians and a certain Octave Dissonant – an eccentric but passionate professor – will take you on a musical journey through the ages. From Haydn to Beauséjour-Ostiguy, by way of Beethoven, Brahms and Tchaikovsky…
Violin, cello, and piano understand each other without a word. But then a voice joins in, speaking for them. Sounds become images, words find their perfect tone. A concert somewhere between chamber music and theater, a moment to learn, smile, and listen as much with your ears as with your heart.
The artists of the concert
The Hochelaga Trio has distinguished itself on the international stage for the intensity of its performances, its artistic integrity, and the precision of its playing. Founded in 2000, the Hochelaga Trio has performed numerous concerts and tours in North America, Europe, and Asia. Highlights include its performance of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Tokyo New City Orchestra, the premiere of Jacques Hétu's Triple Concerto with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and performances at London's legendary Wigmore Hall and Venice's Palazzetto Bru Zane. For over 20 years, the Hochelaga Trio has also produced its own concert series in Montreal. The dozen recordings already released by the Hochelaga Trio have been warmly received by international critics.
Luc Beauséjour, harpsichordist and educator, taught music literature for several years at Cégep de Saint-Laurent and the Montreal Conservatory of Music. In June 2025, he was the artistic director and host of the Place des Arts Foundation's grand gala at Théâtre Maisonneuve. He is also regularly entrusted with hosting cultural events and benefit galas. As part of the Montreal Bach Festival, he gave five lectures last fall and has been invited to present five more at the 2025 edition. Last March, he played the roles of actor and harpsichordist in Rameau et la Muse oubliée (directed by Carl Béchard), confirming an artistic signature where theatre and music resonate naturally.
